Yesterday... all the weather seemed so far away
Now it looks as though it's here to stay
Oh sunny days... were yesterday...
It was 80 degrees and sunny yesterday. Perfect autumn weather... this morning when I woke up... there was a big, bright surprise that will be measured in inches:
Wouldn't you know it? Snow in Phoctober. First snow of the season... make a wish!
Snow and puppies and fires in the fireplaces!
ReplyDeleteWhat a day (and what lovely photos)!
Sognatrice,
ReplyDeletePuppies! They are here!
You are a nonna at last!
CONGRATULATIONS!!
On my way over ...

Great pics! Well, it can't be far behind for Syracuse. I myself prefer snow over a 90-plus day any day.
ReplyDeleteScarlett,
ReplyDeleteDang it, We haven't even had a frost yet. It's a month late.
70's here Sat. and Sun. We got a ton of yard work done.

Snow! Surely you jest. Your photos are very pretty but there needs to be inbetween weather. We can't just go from our sandals to our snow shoes.
ReplyDeleteSnow. *s* I was outside today sweating in shorts and a T-shirt, bare feet and straw hat. I so envy you the snow.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Thank you for sharing the first snowfall since we don't get any here.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos, Scarlett.
Ow wow! Snow! Did you make a snowman? When does the skiing season start?!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, Scarlett - I think I'm envious, though snow this early in the year surely means a long cold winter...? Best you make sure you have lots of logs for the fire. Hmmm, fires, marshmallows, mulled wine... lovely! Looking forward to watching winter progress with you!
I love snow! Lucky you. Great photos - as always.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
ReplyDeleteHasn't been real snow in this country for years.
Just the warmer variety ...RAIN, RAIN, and more RAIN.
That is CRAZY! Crazy and beautiful. :-) I love the pic of the blazing fire. Very cozy, and indeed one of the best parts of being stuck at home on a snowy day. Stay warm!

Oh..lovely pictures!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the snow..I hardly (ever) get to see snow.(I live in Austin).
And I have never had to light my fire palce..so wonderful to see yours glow!
PK,
ReplyDeleteWell, Saturday it was in the 80's, and rest of the week we are expecting 70's, so it was a fluky weather hiccup, of a sort.
Rel,
That's good! Get the yard work all done before the cold and snow come. Then, you'll be ready for spring!
Taffiny,
This is the in between weather... hee hee... we'll have fall for another 4 weeks and then we will REALLY see winter start to set it. This was just a preview. But it makes the mountains beautiful!
Irrelephant,
I was excited to see it come because I knew it was only a day. I'll be offering a weather trade in 3 months...
Hearts,
Love to share... you put the Golden Gate up, so I mist reciprocate! Quality local stuff trades. YAY!
We'll all be sick of it by February....
Vanilla,
Yes... the ski season started two weeks ago; the mountains have been getting snow since early Sept. so there are a few resorts up and running.
I do usually park myself in front of the fireplace with good books, soothing beverages and usually good chocolate, just for good measure.
I'll put Christmas photos up to share that postcard perfect ambiance with everyone too.
Kay,
Lucky it was only one day!
Rise,
Ah... I'd miss the snow at Christmas!
Christina,
Yes... definitely crazy, had to scrape ice and a few inches of snow off of my car and I wasn't even wearing a coat. Not cold enough for a coat today... such is fall here.
Dee,
I'll be happy to try to send some your way in a few months!!!

Ah-ha! Your beautiful snow created our lovely chill down. We only achieved 78 degrees today, unusual for the desert.
ReplyDeleteMake a quick snowman for me...
Those photos are gorgeous! I think there are few things more beautiful about the winter than snow on trees. I miss the snow so much!
ReplyDeleteNo no no .. I don't want to say goodbye to summer ... the Greek islands and all! :-)
ReplyDeleteBut then ... at least skiing is coming!
Nice shots, even though they transport me back to Greece!
What a fun surprise to wake up to! Lovely, quiet, calm of snow.
ReplyDeleteThat's Colorado for ya!
