Two Wolves

Two Wolves

One evening a grandfather told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside all people. He said, "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

Grandfather simply replied, "The one you feed".

  4. Scarlett,
    Succinct!
    True, to my mind.
The one wolf seem hungrier more often it seems.

  5. Miss Molly,

Because it's TRUE! And good for you, making sure the kids know it!

    Kat,

I agree, so it is posted.

    Hullo Jon!

I think yours *are* Jack Russells, which makes it all the more important.
    ;o)

    Rel!

It can be tricky feeding the right one, sometimes.

  8. Powerful. And so very true.

Sometimes I read on the news, about people who have done awful things, and I wonder how they got to that point.

Step by step into the abyss, one meal at a time fed to the bad wolf.

  9. Hello ECD!

    It's true. A step at a time.
Although, I have met some that have jumped in head first.

  11. What a lovely parable. And which of those wolves in the picture is the evil one? They both look so lovely.

  12. This is so wonderful and a great reminder that we really do need to feed ourselves more than just food (although I rather love *that* part of being human too) ;) Thinking of you cara!

  13. True. Sometimes it might be difficult to recognise each of the two...

  14. The wolves in pack have quarrels with each other? Or only people who decide one wolf is rabid and needs to be removed. Or does each has value and role?

  15. I love this story - great wisdom!

  16. Suburbia!

    Timing is everything, isn't it?
    Hope you are well. ;o)

    Kay,

It is. I wish more people thought about it.

    Hey Jules,

It's a very nice photo; wish I'd taken it!

    Michelle my bella amica,

Yeah, but you get to eat authentic Italian food and your excellent cooking, so both is best for you!
    ;o)
Think of you too, all the time.
    XOXO

    Vesper,

There is a fine line between the two, sometimes. I've known days when I realized just a little too late that I was feeding the wrong one. I correct that though.

    Very good questions Pearl,

I think it's important to have both, for how can you determine good without measuring it by evil?

    My very dearest Vanilla,

    It is good, isn't it?
    Perfect to post here.
    HUGS XO
