Cardinal Rules II

It has come to my attention that we need to review the rules.

Not regular rules, which are meant to be bent, broken, twisted and otherwise tossed aside with scandalous disregard, but Cardinal Rules. Guidelines and standards by which we live, and which are never, ever broken.

In order to provide an all encompassing and comprehensive list, I have requested the assistance of four incomparable women who are wise, witty, experienced, strong, open minded and walk through each day with humor and a good woman's grace.

Welcome to Minx of The Inner Minx, Sognatrice of Bleeding Espresso, Heart of Guilty With an Explanation, and Vanilla of Absolute Vanilla. Thank you for your assistance ladies, I couldn't have designed a better team to produce these essential life rules.

We will feature each ladies Cardinal Rules for one day this week.

Cardinal Rules

Heart at Guilty With An Explanation

1. Don't worry about what people think; they don't do it very often.

2. Treat service people politely and respectfully. Someone who is nice to friends but rude to the waiter is not a nice person.

3. Never, ever ask someone when her baby is due unless you know for a fact that she is really pregnant.

4. Never try to convert anyone to your religious beliefs. This is arrogant and demeaning and will always be resented. Besides, everyone's views are equally valid.

5. Always try to support and build up your friends. If you can't do that in honesty, they shouldn't be your friends.

Thank you very much, Heart! Excellent list.
Come back tomorrow for more Cardinal Rules!

Hey Suburbia,

Well... I try to watch myself on that one too, because of course, I am sure I'm right; otherwise, why would I bother believing it?
The trick is not to assume that everyone else is wrong...

Hey Sameera!

Isn't it? Hearts is fantastic.
Very wonderful woman, which is why she was featured.
Glad we're all on the same team here!

These are truly cardinal rules as are the ones from Wanderlust. I would add two - Always ask for the truth. You may not like what you hear but you probably need to hear it.

We are capable of feeling more than one emotion at a time. So remember when you are feeling blue there probably is something in your Life that you are grateful for - connect to that thing. It doesn't change reality, just puts it into clearer perspective.

That's my 2 pennies!

This is such a cool idea, Scarlett, and it was such fun taking part!

In response to this one: "Don't worry about what people think; they don't do it very often." I think it was Wayne Dyer who said, never worry about other peoples' "good opinions" - they are, after all, just that - opinions!

Minx,

That's a wonderful idea... see it often and remember it always, it's so true.

Hi Gayle,

I will be posting my Cardi's on Friday, you'll have to come back and see that list then.
I agree... changing perspective when things are out of kilter is a good practice.
One thought though, when you say 'ask for truth'... whose truth do you want? Perspective has everything to do with truth... and it can change according to the position of ones viewpoint.
We have to remember not to get lost in the sad things, not to let them drag us down.
Good pennies! Thanks!

Hey Vanilla!

Thanks! Loved having you help us out, you made a great list!

And everyone has an opinion, don't they? *giggle* so we stand at the buffet table of life and take what we want and discard the rest.

;o)

In conjunction with Number 4, I always remember Dave Barry's quote: "People who want to share their religious views with you almost never want you to share yours with them."

Great list :)

Michelle,

Wonder what would happen if we all listened to each other and got on the same page... or as close as possible.
Hm...

Chesca!

I think Minx has it spot on, it should be posted where everyone can see it regularly. Absorption of this kind is very good.
