Say What?!

I am back in school again. Already. I'm excited for it, I love going to this school, love the campus, the classes, the instructors; they've mostly been great.

I am required to take a macroeconomics class, and I've put it off for so long that I have to take it now. So, I opted to take it online this semester... to save myself the anguish of going to the campus and sitting through an economics class in person; which for me would be right up there with Chinese water torture.

The instructor asked that we all introduce ourselves in an online discussion forum. One lady said she'd just gotten back from the UK, to which the instructor replied that he would love to visit the UK, it's on his list of places to go... and he will be going to the UK as soon as the dollar is stronger against the euro.

-blink-

Right eyebrow raises slowly in disbelief.

I'm taking economics from a man who doesn't know that the whole of the UK uses the British Pound Sterling?

Fantastic.

I certainly hope that was a typo.

Hmm.. well, the euro is gaining in strength against the pound, so when the dollar catches up with the euro again, and the euro catches up more with the pound... but still.

Hi WLLDM,

Yes... as of yesterday, the euro was at $1.49 to the dollar and the pound was $1.90.
Ouch... are we thinking that it will improve?
Still doesn't improve my confidence in the instructor...

Lol,for your sake I hope it really was a typo!

Nice to know you are back in school.Have fun and good luck! :)

Hey Sameera!

Well... I decided to rewrite it and repost it. I was fairly annoyed the first time, and that was evident in the words I chose.
It wasn't worth keeping.

Thanks! I am looking forward to this semester *very* much.

Hadn't realised the dollar was worse against the pound than against the Euro...Which might explain why middle son, who lives in the Uk, hasn't paid us a visit in quite a while.
I would think the outlook is excellent for scoring an A in that class!

Scarlett,
Oh goody, corresponding with a school girl! How cool. So what's your major and like that?

All joking aside, I'd love to go back to school. Not online but on campus. If I win the lottery that's exactly (no kidding) what I'd do. I'd major in French, maybe even in France.

An economics prof thinking Euros for England? Lets hope it was brain-fark. Geez.....
My son, the CPA, just got his MBA last Thur. I'll run this by him this weekend. :-)

France is out for me this year (sob, sob). The exchange is so not worth it. So in Oct. we'll be off to the big apple for a few days, then train up to Mystic Conn. and on to Newport, RI.

Send me a postcard from university.....I love postcards.

Rel,

You're so funny.
I'm double majoring in photojournalism and aviation. Second tour through college.
I *LOVE* this school, it's been great being there.

I read that about your son, congratulations! That's wonderful!

Sounds like you'll have some nice travels anyway, even if it isn't France... but I do love France.

I collect postcards (isn't that ironic?) I have over 400 from all over the world, and from way back in history; some from the early 1900's, and some very unusual ones.
I am in good company if you like them as well!

Hey Molly!

oops... missed you there, sorry about that!

The dollar is in pretty sad shape right now, and I am hoping (with eyes squeezed shut) that it improves soon.
And I hope I get an A!

Maybe you could go see your son, instead of him coming to see you?

That's pretty funny. I choose to assume it's a typo.

My girls have been obsessed with Disneyland for a couple months now, but I'm using the Olympics to try to lure them into wanting a trip to Europe and Asia.

I've got issues with Disney. To put it mildly.

p.s. - I threw you a big thank you in my blog today concerning the voorwerp. Check it out! And thanks for the correction. You rock!

I want to do some more studying - its a bit late this year maybe next. I did Law and Society at Uni last time... I paid in pounds by the way as you say...

Wanderlust Scarlett said...

Hey Clowncar!

Well, I think it was. A rather disconcerting error, but an error all the same.

Disney is all about a cute fun way to suck you dry monetarily. Been there, done that.
I've also been to Europe and I would take that a thousand to one over Disney; you'd be introducing the kids to different cultures, tons of history, and whole new ways of seeing and experiencing the world.

Definitely broaden their minds...

I will come over and check out the page. Thanks!

Mutley,

You've suddenly made me feel *SO* much better about my tuition and costs for school!!
Thanks!
...so, what happened with the law?

The only thing I can imagine is that he was thinking of (the Republic of) Ireland (Not northern Ireland) which does use the euro--and they have cute little shamrocks on their 5 cent coins and a lyre on the 2 euro one (I believe) :)

Still, no, not part of the UK.

Either that or perhaps he was thinking of doing a European tour and so would have to be concerned with the euro?

Yeah, I'm trying ;)

Hey Michelle!

I think he must be going to other countries as well the UK. At least... I hope...

;o)
