Great quote! I think JFK may have used it in one of his speeches, too.

GBS was approached by Ellen Terry, an actress of his day, who suggested they have a child together because it would have his brains and her beauty.

Have you by any chance read Trout Fishing in America by Richard Brautigan? It's all about changing one's perception of reality and this quote fits the theme so well!
