Brush Strokes

...so I took up acrylic painting. This is my first shot at it... I've only ever painted with watercolor (and oils one time) but this was SO FUN. Loved it. The first one I did was the Tuscan flower... It will make perfect sense to anyone who has seen 'Under the Tuscan Sun'. - I was thinking rust, rain, tin roof, solitude, coffee in an old studio flat in Seattle... One that has no furniture except what you see... Something bare and small but not cold, simplicity, flower and vase from the movie. If you looked out the window it would be difficult to see outside because the glass is old and not clear, and it's foggy from the rain, but you could kind of see the alley below... dumpster, stray cat... Tall brick walls of the surrounding buildings. No sky. Zoom in on the picture and look at the flower closely... This is the only nature in the whole scenario... Everything else is city; concrete... Brick, walls, manufactured environment. The flower is it.

Nice painting. You're very good.

Your flower, the lone living thing in the room, reminds me of a crocus I once saw growing out of a boulder in Central Park in NYC.

It made me realize that my own problems were pretty small by comparison.

Thank you for visiting my blog.

Hearts,

Thanks so much, really... it was just for therapy and fun, and I managed to accomplish both. No intended picture in my mind, it just kind of evolved into this.
So very glad you came by and enjoyed it. I am delighted that it did something good for you.

Sognatrice,

You are too kind, and very sweet! Thanks!
