Eight is enough!

Rob at Image & Verse tagged me with a meme of eights.

To begin with:

1. I have to post these rules before I give you the facts.
2. Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
3. People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
4. At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.
5. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them they’re tagged, and to read your blog.

Eight things about Scarlett

1. I am very ticklish

2. I found out that I can cross my eyes and they don't stay that way

3. I sing the National Anthem in the shower a lot... of course at the top of my lungs. The neighbors are very appreciative.

Angel 2

4. I taught my 3 year old nephew the song 'Do Re Mi' from "The Sound of Music" and he could only remember the first three notes... he sang it continually and repetitively after I taught it to him... 'do re mi, do re mi, do re mi'... my brother hates that movie. Heh Heh... We're learning '76 Trombones' from "The Music Man" next.

5. As a practical joke, I bought two round Styrofoam cylinders from a hobby store one year and frosted them with wonderful cake frosting, decorated it beautifully and presented it with candles lit to one of my best friends as her birthday cake at a small party with close friends. She knows I'm a lousy cook, so when she tried to cut into it and the knife got stuck she smiled politely. When she tried to pull the knife out, the whole 'cake' came off the plate...stuck to the knife. SO funny. Of course I had a real cake to give her when the shenanigans and giggles were done.

6. I call my sister in Arkansas every time I am at a concert that we would love to go to together, so that she can listen to it with me, on the phone. She's heard Prince, Paul McCartney, Elton John and some other very good shows. It's not quite the same, but it's nice to have my best friend there in a little way.

7. I still believe in Santa, the Easter Bunny, and the Tooth Fairy, and I insist that all the little ones in the whole family humor me and go along with it... the parents give socks and underwear, these three give the good stuff... you stop believing, you stop getting the good stuff and all you get are socks and underwear. The bigger kids in the family have taken the little ones aside and explained my holiday philosophies to them, so they know ahead of time. Still arguing this point with a couple of stubborn nieces who will remain nameless at this time.

8. I have more Christmas stuff than any semi-normal person should, and it multiplies every year. One of my best friends walked in one year and her jaw hit the floor... 'it looks like Christmas threw up in your house!' she exclaimed... somehow this appealing analogy stuck... and now every year, everyone who knows me well always asks... 'did Christmas throw up in your house again?'... lovely hmm?

Friends that I know will have good lists:

Okie dokey. Got it. Will do very soon.

76 Trombones is a nice choice for a follow-up to Do Re Mi. How does your brother feel about The Music Man?

Uh oh! I already did this meme a few weeks ago. I think the post is called "Tag, I'm it" or something close.

3. I had to scroll up and see if you were American like me because hardly anyone can sing our national anthem with all those high notes. You must be a great singer!

4. I hate the Sound of Music for similar reasons. My kids used to watch it over and over and sing all the songs. I also hate Star Wars songs -- same thing.

5. and 7. I had something to say about these, but my husband just handed me the phone and I had to congratulate a friend who is having his first father's day and talk a while, and now I forgot what 5 and 7 said.

You sing the national anthem in the shower... is that code for "I have loud, uninhibited sex in the shower?"

Please don't answer that.

Your nephew is the right age for a Ride-'Em fire engine that actually clangs. Or maybe a little drum set. That should get your brother's attention.

Sorry Scarlett, already done this one a couple of weeks ago and only did it because Reluctant Memsahib didn't know me 'no meme' rule!

CS,

It's best to take ones time, when wandering, then everything can soak it. Just watch out for that Zonkey... he's something else.

Ally girl!

Thank you for playing along, what a good sport you are.
My brother does not like any musicals at all... or Broadway... or theatre... if it isn't rock or rap, it isn't good, for the most part. By the time my nephew is 5, he will be well versed in all the arts. hee hee.

Hello Dewey!

Well I'll link to your older post then. It counts!
...emmm, *giggle* I didn't say I could sing it well, I said I sing it loud... but I sing ok. I've sung in public with live bands a bit, but always jazz and blues, never ever the anthem when I have a microphone.

Hearts,

...I can't give out the codes! If everyone is code privy then the all-knowing smirks are no fun anymore!
Actually, mom gave him a guitar (see photo in the post To Bee or not to Bee and the boy...) my nephew is the boy... little rock star. I am very good about gifts such as electric keyboards, finger paints, flutes, drums, and most recently a superman cape that makes all kinds of noise when you push a button on the shoulder pad. He flies everywhere, and not quietly.
The fire truck is an inspired idea, hearts, a truly inspired idea... must go shopping, and take him along. He has good taste in obnoxious things.

Minx,

OOOPS, I hadn't seen that list of eights that you'd already posted, but as with Dewey, I will just link away to your old post, it's a good one and certainly it counts.

Fiddle le de I love the boots you're wearing in your photo! People always look at me when I slip on my high heels. Yoginis usually wear flats but not this woman! Namaste

Wanderlust Scarlett said...

Hi Yoga Gal,

That's actually not a photo of me.
It's a painting by Jack Vettriano, titled "In thoughts of you".
I have a healthy collection of heels, however.

Thanks for coming by

I have the terrible luck to be afflicted with ticklishness too. I can't even have a massage without breaking into laughter.

Wanderlust Scarlett said...

Beaman,

Yes, but it's so FUN!!!

...until I'm laughing too hard to breath...

Scarlett -

My wife and I live in the land or Christmas trees (Oregon is largest exporter of Christmas tress in the U.S.) -- and I absolutely LOVE Çhristmas.

My family and freinds call me Santa, because I love giving gifts -- and because I look like Santa with a short beard. I also collect Santa statues and figurines.

We put up three Christmas trees every year. One main tree, then one dedicated to nutcrackers, and one dedicated to Dept 56 ornaments (inclding Patience Brewster's Krinkles).

Our home during the holidays looks like Christmas exploded all over the house! ;)

Christmas ornament shopping begins every year in July when Hallmark releases their early designs. The house decorating begins as soon as Halloween ends.

We are Christmas crazy!!

Wanderlust Scarlett said...

Hey Rob,

That's just a teeny bit more than what I do... Christmas goes up about 10 seconds after Thanksgiving dinner dishes are done.

I LOVE dept. 56. I have a bit of that myself. I also have different 'sections'... snowmen in one corner, santas in one place, the nutcrackers used to be in one place, but they are my favorite (love the ballet/story/music) so they've begun to spill into many little corners of the house.
Still looks good, just looks FULL.
